Vegan Chocolate Cake Takes Over the World
Delicious free vegan food can break down stereotypes as quickly as you can down chocolate cake. A vegan free food fair is a social and relaxed way to spread the word. Here are some tips – get in touch for more guidance.
Get people to help you to run the event – choose a co-ordinator. Think publicity, volunteers, food donations, cooking, serving, information stalls, transport. Find a venue that is easy for people to reach and will meet hygiene requirements. Watch your budget – sell hot or cold drinks. Look for good cooking facilities – ovens, fridges, microwaves. Check tables and chairs – do you need folding ones? Serve varied delicious foods, hot and cold, great vegan cheese and chocolate, main dishes, sides, and desserts - including wheat and sugar free options. Make sure the food all looks attractive. Make sure you comply with food hygiene regulations – maybe send one organiser on a course?
If in doubt consult your local Environmental Health Department at the Council. Also make sure the event is covered by liability insurance. You can hand out a simple feedback questionnaire to find out just how popular your event has been.
