Fundraising and Income Generation Manager

In 2014 The Vegan Society will be celebrating her 70th Anniversary. We aim to raise at least £170,000 to fund our advocacy, policy and education work. We have a series of events and projects planned to celebrate all we have achieved to date. The Society further looks to the future to make veganism more accessible and an easily adopted approach by supporting individuals, policy and decision makers, caterers, manufacturers, health care professionals and the media. Can you help us achieve this target within two years?

The Fundraising Manager will focus on generating income from trusts and foundations, as well as statutory grants (European and UK government departments). We are looking for someone who has flair, creativity and energy to drive forward a new programme of fundraising in these areas. You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy. 

The successful candidate will likely have at least one year of experience in fundraising with a strong foundation and trusts grant track record, along with either experience of, or a keen interest in, Statutory grants to enable The Vegan Society to achieve our targets and support our innovative campaigns.

This role is initially for two years with the possibility of extension. This position is for four or five days a week (flexibility in working hours can be considered) and the starting salary is between £22,000 and £25,000 pro rata (depending on skills and experience).

Media and Public Relations Manager

We have a series of events and projects planned to celebrate all we have achieved to date. The Society further looks to the future to make veganism more accessible and an easily adopted approach by supporting individuals, policy and decision makers, caterers, manufacturers, health care professionals and the media. Can you help us achieve this target? 

The aim of this role is to strengthen the Society’s profile in print and broadcast media, building relationships with journalists and connecting them with our stories. Working with the Head of CPPR and the senior management team you will devise and implement a media relations strategy aimed at raising the profile of the Society throughout the UK (and internationally if appropriate) while supporting the work of the CPPR and Business Development departments. 

The successful candidate will likely be media savvy and persuasive with the ability to ‘sell’ stories to local, specialist and national press. You will possess excellent copywriting skills and will be able to adapt to turn around media requests quickly. Your excellent communication skills will allow you to work with a wide variety of contacts.
