I am a literary critic (Head of English Faculty and Senior Lecturer in English at New College of the Humanities in London). In 2018 I become interested in vegan literary theory, and will this year (2020) be adding a lecture on this area of theory to the ‘Introduction to Theory’ set of lectures that all first year BA English students take at NCH. In 2019 I presented a lecture and a paper on ‘D. H. Lawrence and the Anticipation of the Vegan Turn’ at respectively the D. H. Lawrence Society of Eastwood, and an international conference on ‘Lawrence and Ecocriticism’ held at the University of Nanterre, Paris. I run a vegan information group for Faculty and students at my College, and aim to be a conduit of information about and campaigning on veganism to and in my institution as a whole. I will be contributing the chapter on modern literature to the forthcoming volume The Edinburgh Companion to Vegan Literary Studies, edited by Laura Wright and Emilia Quinn, and I will be presenting a paper on the subject of D. H. Lawrence and bullfighting at the international D. H. Lawrence conference at Taos in July 2020.
