Should I register my vegan-friendly products and services with the Vegan Trademark?
Yes. We offer a unique product checking service with years of experience to ensure that your product’s vegan claim is valid and true. As the charity that coined the term ‘vegan’, we are the experts in this field. Products that are at high-risk of cross contamination with non-vegan ingredients are liable to be audited, to ensure that consumers can trust the Vegan Trademark registered products. Our Vegan Trademark holders benefit from trusted brand awareness for their business, discounted advertising rates, a free review in our quarterly magazine, a free shout out on Facebook and other social media platforms, promotion via our competitions section and exposure for their products at exhibition events.
Who can apply for the Vegan Trademark?
Any company that produces vegan-friendly products. Our aim is to make the Vegan Trademark accessible to everyone whose products fit our specific criteria: that products contain no animal ingredients, the processing aids used in the manufacturing process are vegan, and its ingredients have never been tested on animals on behalf of the manufacturer. Please see our Vegan Trademark Standards for more information.
Do you approve companies or products?
The Vegan Society sees great value in registering products instead of companies, as it often encourages companies to further develop and improve the labelling on vegan options in their wider portfolio of products. When a company requests to register their product(s) with the Vegan Trademark, we take them through our official process to ensure their products are suitable and, once completed, they are able to use the Vegan Trademark on their registered product(s) and any associated marketing material. Through encouraging the development of vegan options and improving the labelling on products which are suitable, we have helped to make the vegan lifestyle even more accessible and appealing, whilst further promoting 'vegan' as a household name.
It is important to note that The Vegan Society does not endorse whole companies. Often, companies will also sell products that contain animal-derived ingredients in their ranges. We encourage all individuals to make informed choices about companies that they wish to support.
How long does the Vegan Trademark licence run for?

I have a restaurant/catering business, can I register?
We know how helpful it is to have menu items clearly labelled when consumers are looking for something to eat or drink. That’s why we register individual menu items and ‘dishes’ to demonstrate that they are suitable for vegans. In order to register your dishes you must have a stable and traceable supply chain for your ingredients, if this is likely to change regularly or you are unable to contact the suppliers of your ingredients the Vegan Society trademark would not be suitable.
Am I free to register all my vegan-friendly products?
Occasionally we come across products The Vegan Society deems unsuitable. We reserve the right to refuse any product submitted for registration if the product conflicts with our standards. We will attempt to work with you to find a suitable solution, such as recommending alternative vegan-friendly ingredients.
