I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Cambridge and an M. Phil in Identities and Cultures of Europe from Trinity College Dublin, with my Masters research focusing on intersectional analyses of vegan diet culture, and a particular focus on the relationships vegans have with domesticated non-human animals.

My current research interests are in expanding the cultural theory of veganism. I focus on the materalising of vegan ethics through aesthetic practices and non-verbal communications. This has involved an analysis of the menus, interior design and typography trends observed in the plant-based hospitality sector. I also focus on communications strategies and policy advocacy methods of both vegan activist networks and corporations selling plant-based foods. My methodology draws on visual, semiotic analyses of plant-based organisations, markets and products, as well as critical discourse analysis and the sociolinguistics of veganism.
