With the elections in Scotland and Wales fast approaching, now represents a significant opportunity to urge candidates to commit to supporting a shift towards healthier, more sustainable plant-rich diets
There is an urgent need for a shift towards more plant-rich diets in the UK, to improve public health, meet our net zero commitments, strengthen our food security, and move to end the exploitation of non-human animals.
With elections in Scotland and Wales taking place in May, now is a critical moment to ensure this shift is firmly on the agenda for the next governments in Edinburgh and Cardiff. A just transition towards healthy, sustainable plant-based diets, and away from the inefficient and cruel practices of animal agriculture, must be a priority for policymakers.
You can help make this happen by contacting candidates in your local area to ask them to commit to supporting policies which help shape a fairer, healthier, more sustainable food system.
Emailing your local candidates will not only raise awareness of this issue, but also make it clear that their voters in their constituencies care – encouraging them to make it a priority. Below you’ll find template emails for candidates in Scotland and Wales. As always, feel free to personalise as you wish, making sure to keep messages brief and polite.
Thank you for taking the time to take action. If you do contact your candidates, please let us know of any responses you receive at [email protected].
