Statistics Volunteer Role Description
Are you passionate about changing the way we treat animals? Do you want to help reduce environmental damage? Do you want to inspire people to enjoy healthy vegan food that both looks good and tastes great?
The Vegan Society aims to make veganism more accessible. We help people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by supporting individuals, policy- and decision-makers, caterers, manufacturers, healthcare professionals and the media.
Why do we need you?
We need help to keep our statistics webpages up to date. These pages contain statistics from external sources on various topics relating to veganism, such as health and nutrition, the environment and the global growth of veganism.
These pages are a useful resource for anyone looking for a repository of some of the most insightful statistics on veganism. They are also used by staff across The Vegan Society for various purposes, including writing new content for research and campaigns work. Keeping these pages updated helps us to ensure that any statistics we cite are appropriate, accurate and from a reliable source.
What does the role involve?
This role involves conducting desk-based research to find new statistics for our webpages and to identify any old statistics that require updating or removal. The Research Assistant will review your proposed edits, after which you will be able to update the website with the necessary changes.
What training and support is available?
This role will come with an induction session and a regular point of contact. However, the work will be carried out remotely and the volunteer will be expected to work independently. We are therefore looking for someone who already has the necessary research skills and will not require any training, other than being familiarised with our processes and shown how to edit The Vegan Society website. Regular check-ins with the Research Assistant will be provided.

What does my availability need to be?
This is an ongoing role. We ask for volunteers to commit four to six hours a week, although this may vary from week to week. Volunteering can be done outside traditional working hours and in any time zone, although staff support will only be available between 9am and 5pm UK time. We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months to make the best use of recruitment and induction time and to get the best out of their volunteering experience.
