And if you think you'd be great at helping others with this, read on, as this may be right up your street.
Who we're looking for
As individuals, we have a somewhat eclectic mix of skills, passions and idiosyncrasies...but it works. Probably because we all have one thing in common: we believe we’re onto something really special.
Sales and Merchandising Manager
Have you ever wondered how you can apply your sales experience in an ethical environment? Are you passionate about changing the way we treat animals? Do you want to help reduce damage to our environment? Do you want to get people to enjoy healthy vegan food that looks and tastes great?
The Vegan Society is now recruiting a Sales and Merchandising Manager to enable us to trade a range of products (in particular our supplement VEG1) that delivers profit targets and promotes our primary focus (ie a vegan lifestyle). Training will be provided in specific areas (where necessary).
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Business Development. This is an office-based role working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, although we may consider flexible working requests. The role involves occasional weekend or evening work, e.g. to attend events.
Please read the job description and person specification carefully.
The closing date is 5pm on Friday 30 September.
Interviews will be held between 5-7 October.
CVs will not be accepted.
No agencies please.
Head of Campaigns and Policy
Are you passionate about changing the way we treat animals? Do you want to help save our environment? Do you want to improve public health by promoting amazing plant-based food?
Our new Head of Campaigns and Policy will lead and manage our campaigns team, engaging with individuals, groups and the government in order to provide vegan solutions to many of the problems our society currently faces. You will engage with political audiences and public institutions to meet the Society’s campaigning objectives (food, environment, rights of humans and other animals, education and health). You will build credibility and relationships with Parliamentarians and work in collaboration with organisations with similar goals.
We are looking for a passionate, highly motivated individual who can significantly expand our campaigns and help raise our public profile.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and networking skills backed up with experience in public policy, as well as being fully committed to the values of The Vegan Society. You will be able to demonstrate experience of leading a team, setting objectives and ensuring those targets are achieved, on time and on budget.
Working at The Vegan Society is a very rewarding experience. As well as offering a fully supportive team of likeminded individuals to work alongside, we also offer:
• A solution-focused atmosphere and hard working environment
• Flexible working hours, with the possibility of some remote working
• Employee Assistance Programme and health cash-back scheme
• Cycle-to-work scheme
• Childcare vouchers scheme
• Animal companion compassionate leave
• 28 Days leave and 8 Bank Holidays
• Office location in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham
This is a full time permanent contract with a salary of around £27,000 depending on experience.
We have identified this role as being important to the future of the society. If you have the vision and drive for major campaigns then we’d love to speak to you. Please call Sarah Cook on 0121 523 1730 to discuss the role further or email recruitment[at]vegansociety[dot]com.
