In loving memory of Chooch. 

Chooch was a gentle giant with a heart full of love and loyalty. With his warm eyes and penchant for cuddles, he brought comfort and joy to everyone lucky enough to know him. Whether he was leaning in for a cuddle, running around with his favorite ball, or simply lying nearby, his presence made everything feel that much better.

In Honour of Black History Month, Nena Ubani (a.k.a. Duchess Nena) reflects on her journey with veganism.

Gil was born on 11th July 1939 and passed away at 85 on 16th June 2025. A long-time supporter of The Vegan Society, veganism was the most important thing in his life and defined who he was as a person.  

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you – the bond I had with you will remain with me, forever. I cherish the love I shared with you and am incredibly grateful for the way you loved me … in all the ways you inherently knew how to. Thank you for gifting us 16 incredibly beautiful years of you!

Lenni was passionate about animal welfare and the environment. Vegan for 45 years, she was a strong campaigner. We first met when she was running a local vegan group and we became firm friends. 

You were one of my very first rescue piggies...tiny, brave and full of love from the moment you arrived at our home. Every squeek and every cuddle with you reminded me why rescuing matters. There was never a quiet moment in our home as your wheeking for veggies filled the room! You are dearly missed and will always have a special place in my heart.

In Loving Memory of Benjamin Zephaniah.   

It feels profoundly fitting that Benjamin’s first tribute here is with The Vegan Society, a cause woven into the fabric of his being. He lived his life by a simple, powerful principle: to do the least harm and the most good. This vegan ethic was the heartbeat of his existence, guiding him from the global stage to the peace of our home.
