Singapore-based Catastrophy, is a groundbreaking jewellery line rooted in a passion for feline friends, as well as a commitment to sustainability.

Each piece is designed to celebrate humankind’s bond with cats, with 10% of every purchase donated to charitable organisations. This includes the Cat Welfare Society, which aims to improve the lives of cats in Singapore, and the Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, which rescues felines while battling the ongoing cat meat trade in Asia.

As well as kindness to animals the brand also has a strong focus on sustainability. To keep emissions to a minimum, Catastrophy’s vegan-friendly pieces are made using recycled silver by local artisans and delivered in biodegradable packaging.

Fairness and equality matter at every stage – from ensuring ethical working conditions and fair wages to creating jewellery that’s designed for everyone, regardless of gender.

The brand is proud to be the first jewellery line in the world to carry the Vegan Trademark, ensuring consumers can wear their meaningful keepsake knowing animals are truly at its heart.

Catastrophy founder Yuko Tsukada launched the brand in December in remembrance of her late feline companions Tuna and Caeser.

She said: “At Catastrophy, we create jewellery that celebrates a love for cats while staying true to sustainability and ethical practices – because what you wear should reflect your values, not just your style.

“After careful consideration and chats with other certification bodies, we chose The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark. In a market where it’s easy for some brands to slap on their own ‘vegan’ logos, we wanted to do things properly and earn a certification that truly means something. Our goal was to give people the confidence that what we’re doing is the real deal.

“We’re over the moon to be the first jewellery brand to earn this certification. Let’s just say The Vegan Society doesn’t hand out their trademark to just anyone – and that’s exactly why it was the purr-fect fit for us! Now, when you wear Catastrophy, you can feel confident knowing our jewellery is as ethical as it is rebellious – made for cat lovers who want to make a difference, one paw at a time.”

There are over 70,000 items registered worldwide with The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark, from food and beverages to more surprising products like packaging and musical instruments. The Vegan Society’s iconic sunflower logo provides consumers with peace of mind that a product has been manufactured, by the company or on its behalf, without the use of animals or animal ingredients, from testing to manufacture to the finished product.
