Vegan investment fund Veg Capital has announced it’ll sponsor The Vegan Society’s presence at COP26 in Glasgow next month.
Veg Capital are a specialist private family fund that primarily provides early-stage funding to plant-based companies developing products which help to remove animals from the food system. It already works closely with a number of exciting vegan brands and businesses including Vegan Trademark holders One Planet Pizza, Mummy Meagz, OGGS and Clive’s Purely Plants.
The Vegan Society wants to get food and farming on the agenda at COP and will be running and hosting a number of events to get people talking.
On 3 November, we’re supporting Planet Shine’s Voiceless Revolution Campaign with a talk on the benefits of veganism and we’ve been given a space in the Government-run area of the science centre, the ‘Green Zone’, to promote our Plate Up for the Planet campaign. These events, and more, will be sponsored by Veg Capital.
Alexandra Clark from impact investor Veg Capital said, “Governments have shirked animal agriculture’s role in climate change for too long, leaving it off the negotiating table at previous COPs. It is now vital we see true leadership, with a requirement for countries to include targets to reduce animal product production and consumption in their NDCs, and concrete measures to convert land currently used to raise and feed animals to plant-based agricultural systems and habitat restoration.”
All profits made by Veg Capital are donated to effective UK and European charities that are raising awareness of farmed animal suffering and the environmental impact of animal agriculture, or are working to promote plant-based eating.
