» The Vegan Society supports better vegan food labelling

The Vegan Society has, for some time, been pushing for better labelling on vegan food products.

In November 2020, The Vegan Society joined forces with other leading European vegan and food safety groups – Safe Food Advocacy Europe, Association Vegan France, AssoVegan and VEGANOK – to respond to the International Standard on the definitions and technical criteria for foods and food ingredients suitable for vegan food labelling and claims.

As the innovation and development of more vegan food products grows at an unprecedented rate, we continue to defend consumer rights for clearer and better food labelling. We believe that it is vital to have independent experts and representative groups involved in decision making processes. This will ensure the best outcome for vegan consumers, who have been integral to the growth of the overall movement and expansion of the vegan economy.

You can find our response to the proposed standard here and our joint work in developing a European Vegan Standard here.
