We are serving up an exciting community-based event featuring a DJ, a Green Body Brand Fashion show highlighting our latest designs, vegan crafts, food vendors, and more! Meet the Green Body Brand team, learn about upcoming activities, enjoy the hottest music, have a drink at the bar, and purchase goods and food from local vegan vendors in your area! The event will also feature fun activities, prizes & giveaways, and a kids’ activity area!

I am a freelance food and health consultant and an Argentinian-Spanish social and cultural anthropologist. I did my Master’s degree in medical and global health focusing on organic food in the South West of England. Recently, I have started the PhD programme in Anthropology and Communication. The research line is medical and global health Anthropology focusing on food. I have experience in qualitative and quantitative research in Spain, Argentina, Paraguay, and the United Kingdom.

I am a food lover and especially love healthy non-processed food. My next challenge is to start researching vegan food in Argentina. And I know it will be exciting because Argentinians are meat lovers, and this is part of their identity as a country. Even though they are meat lovers, the most interesting part is to research how vegan food has been becoming a new trend in the last few years. It will contribute to understanding how veganism and the culinary culture works in other contexts.

We are very pleased to announce that Newbury Vegan Market is coming back! After the success of our previous events back in 2018 and 2019 we will be returning to the market square in 2021 with a regular market every 3 months! Each one will be jam-packed with all things plant-based and cruelty-free.

A university lecturer from Wolverhampton says his latest challenge, a 300 mile (482km) cycle ride from London to Paris, will be entirely fuelled by plants.

I am a Lecturer in Sociology at Southampton Solent University. My research interests include vegan studies, sustainable practices, culture, and religion. In my PhD, which I completed at the University of Southampton and which was funded by the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership, I explored the experiences of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim vegans in the UK. I was particularly interested in exploring the ways in which the religious vegan experience is distinct, as well as the motivations driving religious individuals to embrace veganism. I explored various themes such as everyday experience, food practices, and understandings of both Abrahamic and vegan beliefs, practices, and values. I had an interdisciplinary supervisory team and drew on theory from sociology, anthropology, and geography in my research. I hope my findings will help to improve vegan advocacy efforts, so we can have more meaningful conversations with religious communities. 

I am a qualitative researcher and in my PhD, I used a range of research methods, including semi-structured interviews, social media-based diary methods, and virtual participant observation. In my MSc (Social Research Methods), my dissertation explored the perceptions of veganism within the Muslim community of Britain, and for this I employed a mixed methods approach, utilising semi-structured interviews and a survey.
