Cooking time: 8 minutes  

Serves: 5 servings  

Ingredients:

  • 150 g raw peanuts (shelled and unsalted)
  • 45 g maple syrup
  • 6 g siracha
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil

Method

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, sriracha, lemon juice, and pinch of salt (if using). Mix well and set aside.
  2. Fry the peanuts: In a frying pan, heat the raw peanuts over medium heat for about 4 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Fry until the peanuts are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain excess oil: Once fried, transfer the peanuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Remove any remaining oil from the frying pan.
  4. Coat with sauce: Return the fried peanuts to the pan (without oil) and pour the prepared sauce over them. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the peanuts evenly, for about 4 minutes.
  5. Serve: Transfer the coated peanuts to a serving bowl and enjoy as a delicious snack or appetizer.

Optional: Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped cilantro for added flavour and visual appeal.
