Viva! are so excited to be returning to Birmingham for yet another epic vegan festival, and this year we are adding a little extra magic… 25th Anniversary! This year we invite you to a stylish event that is magically themed and full of extra special surprises – keep an eye out for announcements of what you can expect to find! 2019 marks the 25th year that Viva! has been fighting tirelessly to end the suffering of animals, and we think that’s worth celebrating.

We've designed AltEatsFest with one goal in mind - to assemble a collection of the absolute best in alternative food suppliers. At AltEats there will be hundreds of people from the Midlands, with genuine interest in gluten, dairy, meet-free, vegan &alternative food, drink and lifestyle products.

Journalist Caroline Moody explains how she made the connection and went vegan at the age of 54, after a life-altering five months in Asia in 2018.

Researcher Network member, Emily Holmes, presents a thorough exploration of her research into food-system change, questioning which foods are being produced and the impact of Brexit on a transition to a plant-based protein, revealing both potential challenges and leverage-points for livestock farmers to transition to pulses in the UK.

This one-day conference will explore the potential and challenges of the shift towards plant-strong farming, and look at the benefits for the environment, public health and animals.

Held at the British Library, it will discuss the implications of this shift for farmers, land managers and rural communities and explore how we can work together to manage the challenges we face. It will consider how we can tend our land more effectively, to provide for our changing diets, benefit our farming communities and protect our natural environment.

The revised edition is more focused on plant-based eating than the previous versions, but it still fails to actually mention veganism. 

Researchers look at the co-benefits of climate change mitigation in the UK, asking what issues are the UK public concerned about and how can action on climate change help to address them?
