Top tips for remembering to take your vitamins

After searching the internet for an affordable, reliable, vegan multivitamin, you have finally found The Vegan Society’s VEG 1. Chewable and packed full of seven key nutrients, VEG 1 ticks all of your boxes. But there is one issue – remembering to take it!

We have every intention of taking our daily supplement, but sometimes it slips our minds. At The Vegan Society, we use a few tips and tricks to help us! Here are the top seven tips for remembering to take VEG 1:

Keep VEG 1 on show

Instead of storing VEG 1 away in a cupboard, we recommend leaving it somewhere visible, such as on a work desk or dressing table, next to your toothbrush, or on the kitchen counter. If vitamins are somewhere they can be easily seen, you’re more likely to remember to take them.

Take VEG 1 on the go

Leaving VEG 1 in an everyday bag and taking them on the go is a great way to ensure you don’t forget.  Not only will you see the pot as you reach into your bag for other items, having them to hand means that if you do suddenly remember in a slight panic that you’ve forgotten, you can quickly take one no matter where you are.

Take VEG 1 with the same meal every day

Remembering to take a daily vitamin is all about weaving the task into your routine, and over time, it will become second nature. A great way to do this is by taking the vitamin with the same meal each day. We rarely forget to have breakfast or lunch, right? So, make VEG 1 part of that meal. This tip is particularly useful, as the ideal way to use VEG 1 is to chew it during or immediately after a meal, for maximum absorption.

Take it with other daily medications

A lot of us take other daily medications. For example, this may be a contraceptive pill or other prescribed medication for a long-term condition. Whether you take your medications in the morning or at night, leaving VEG 1 in the same place and taking it at the same time is a good way to ensure you don’t forget.

Put VEG 1 on your meal planner

Do you keep a weekly meal planner on your fridge or around the kitchen to ensure you’re not wasting any food nearing its use-by date, or to try and eat healthier?

Putting VEG 1 on your meal planner (or on your daily ‘to do list’ or bullet journal) works as a great daily reminder to keep your body topped up with all the essentials!

Set an electronic reminder

Another option is to set an electronic reminder, either on your smartphone or other device. This can be done by setting an alarm for the same time each day, with a note to ‘Take VEG 1’, or using a ‘reminder’ app, which sends a push notification to your home screen.  

Most importantly, don’t panic!

If you realise that you forgot to take your VEG 1 multivitamin the previous day, it is unlikely to cause adverse effects. Simply restart your daily supplementation routine. However, if this is a reoccurring issue, it is important to take steps to help you remember using the tips in this blog, so that you can protect your nutrient intakes.
