Submit your event to The Vegan magazine
Stall packed away, cupcakes finished off, questionnaires counted... it’s time to sit down with a well-deserved cup of tea and write about it. Here are some things to think about before you start writing.
You can probably get going straight away writing a description of your event, how many people came along, how you spread the word... oh, and, how great it went. But don’t miss off the other stuff, such as the name of the event, when and where it took place, who was involved, and how it was publicised.
If you can also include some written feedback from a visitor or member of the audience, then you’re on the home straight to getting your snippet printed in The Vegan magazine.
Create a buzz: we love catchy headlines. Embrace your inner copywriter and give it your best shot! Keep it short: by that we mean less than 100 words, which is about this many:
Jean Carson, Local Contact for Antrim, organised a panel discussion on the links between climate change and diet at the central library on Thursday 6th November 2013. With a team of eight volunteers, Jean welcomed over 60 members of the public. People had the chance to openly discuss solutions to a global problem and the speakers enjoyed the lively discussion that followed. The event was a great success, with one attendee saying: “I never realised the link between diet and climate change, this has been a real eye-opener and a great way to spend a Thursday evening.”
It’s not much, but we think it’s enough for a brief summary. If your event was particularly high profile or included multiple activities, we can stretch to 250 words, but that’s definitely it.
Share your photos
Photos are essential, and they must be high quality and high resolution. If you forgot to take any on the day, why not send one of your own photos of the venue or organising team?
Do it now!
Copy deadlines for the magazine fall throughout the year. Write up your summary as soon as possible after your event for the best chance of getting it in the next issue of the magazine. Letting our readers know all about your event is a great way to make your vegan outreach go further. And who knows? You may even inspire others to follow in your footsteps and hold a similar event of their own. Email us for more info.
