Fruit cake

Feeling fruity? Fruit cakes are ideal vegan festive desserts -– they're easy to make, store well for use across the festive season and, most importantly, are scrumptious! Both of these recipes contain heaps of delicious fruit and you have the choice of a "boozy" cake or an alcohol-free alternative.

Mincemeat baklava

If you're looking for an alternative to mince pies, mincemeat baklava is a suitably sweet and sticky treat. This recipe has only a handful of ingredients and works well as a dessert – but a plate of these little baklava nibbles might last all afternoon!

Tip: this dessert can be made gluten-free simply by using gluten-free vegan pastry.

Cranberry cheesecake

Vegan cheesecake? Yes, vegans can enjoy cheesecakes too! This easy recipe for a cranberry cheesecake is a fitting candidate for your dinner table. The filling uses vegan cream cheese and vegan yoghurt, while the base is simply made from vegan biscuits and vegan margarine.

Tip: this dessert can be made gluten-free by choosing gluten-free vegan digestive biscuits.

Christmas tree meringues

Vegan meringues?! Thanks to the fabulous ingredient aquafaba, yummy meringues are now a great vegan option. Make a festive version of this recipe by adding in some green food colouring (or try spirulina for a superfood hit!), forming the meringues into Christmas tree shapes and then decorating with some vegan sprinkles. Vegan meringues will certainly surprise any non-vegan guests - and they'll never guess you started out with a can of chickpeas to make them! They're gluten-free too.

Christmas chocolate log

Every dinner table over the holidays needs a centrepiece, and, when it's time for dessert, this spectacular chocolate log certainly fits the bill.

Based on a vegan chocolate sponge forming the log, it's then smothered in a decadent vegan chocolate mousse made from vegan dark chocolate, coconut cream/milk, avocado and aquafaba. There are a few steps in this recipe, but it's worth the effort!
