CEO blog post: Recent vegan sporting achievements

A chance to grow

In recent days we have seen Olympians achieve amazing results, personal bests and world record times. The Olympic Games inspire many. Four alternative recent achievements, all vegan endurance events, have inspired me greatly.

£405 raised - thank you!

Talented vegans from around the world kindly donated their original art work, signed books, wildlife photography, handmade jewellery, crafts and much more! For ten days only, from the 17th until the 26th September 2012, these exciting handmade items were on offer to raise money to support the work of the Vegan Society.

Thank you for helping us to raise £405!

Ethics of non-human animal use by humans

Our Media Officer, Amanda Baker, was extensively quoted in the Scottish edition of the well-know UK broadsheet newspaper, (The Sunday Times Scotland) last Sun 30 Sep 2012. Hundreds of anaerobic digestion plants in Scotland, England and Wales are now licensed to take material from slaughterhouses. Mark Macaskill, a Senior Reporter on The Sunday Times Scotland, has investigated these licenses which have been issued by Defra and Sepa to allow this practice.

Farming for Forever - Truly Sustainable AgricultureFarming for Forever

Human farming of non-human animals is causing extensive damage to our environment. In 2006, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation showed that ‘the global livestock industry’ is in the top three causes of all major environmental problems, including global climate change.
