Full of punchy flavours, this meal is comforting and satisfying.

In this session, Gastroenterologist Dr Alan Desmond describes the global burden of colorectal cancer, examines the characteristics of the Standard Western Diet that may influence the incidence of this common malignancy, and looks at the epidemiological evidence suggesting that plant-based eating may reduce the risk. He also describes the evidence-based advice that we can give to our patients who wish to reduce their own risk through dietary change.

Participants will learn about the strength of the link between diet, lifestyle and type 2 diabetes and the evidence for diet as a primary therapeutic tool. The presentation will focus on the practical dietary modifications proven effective for reducing risk of type 2 diabetes and for treating the disease.
