Hi, my name is Sarah Jane and I am addicted to all things mangoes, which of course includes Mango Sticky Rice.

I could live off of mangoes for the rest of my life and be a very happy girl… a true mango connoisseur.

The bad news: It's no longer mango season

The good news: It's apple season!

Now I won’t fool you into thinking that this Apple Crisp Sticky Rice is better than the OG, because that would be a lie, however this may be the next best thing!

Plantain and eggplant stew, served in a wooden bowl with a garnish of corriander and green chili

There’s no shortage of stew recipes from one end of Africa to the other. I particularly love these all-in-one dishes because they’re rich, comforting, and simple to make. You can make this stew your own by adding any vegetable you like or replacing the plantains with root vegetables like sweet potatoes or yams.

Vegan coconut rice pudding garnished with mango, lime and mint

I was never a fan of rice pudding until I began cooking for myself. This coconut milk rice pudding has won
first place with me! You can add golden raisins, almond flakes, or grated coconut to this dish for added flavour. Either way, it’s delicious!

Heart of Palm “Whitefish” Salad

There’s something special about smoked whitefish salad, a dish that is rarely seen outside of Jewish delis. Made with mayonnaise and sour cream, smoked whitefish, fresh dill, and lemon, it is commonly served at shiva, break-fast, or post-synagogue kiddush. This vegan take on the classic uses hearts of palm and creamy white beans to replicate the rich and flaky texture of whitefish. Flavoured with vegan mayonnaise, lemon zest, Dijon, and salty dulse (seaweed flakes), this “whitefish” salad is delicious on bagels and breads or served in a scoop on top of a salad.
